THE FUNDAMENTALS OF CHRISTIANITY:
The Bible
We believe the Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired by the Holy Ghost. It is the complete and final revelation of the will of God to man.
John 17:17, 2Peter1:19-21
“The Bible” containing 66 books from Genesis to Revelation is the Word of God.
Revelation 22:19-21
The Word of God is divinely preserved and is without error.
Psalm 12:6,7
The King James Bible is the Word of God for English speaking people.
Trinity
We believe in the one true God, creator of heaven and earth. God reigns supreme and sovereign.
Psalm 83:18, 1 Timothy 6:13-16
In the unity of the godhead there are three persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost.
1 John 5:7
Virgin Birth
We believe the Son of God has always existed from eternity past. The Son of God was begotten of the Holy Ghost, born of a virgin woman (Mary) and made flesh.
Genesis.3:15, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6,7, Matthew1:18-25, Luke 1:30-34, 1 Timothy 3:16
Physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ was resurrected bodily from the dead three days after he was put into the tomb, defeating death, and forty days after ascended into heaven.
Matthew 28:1-15, John 20:1-29, Acts 1:1-11
Sin of Man
We believe man was created in innocence, but by one man’s transgression (Adam), fell from a sinless state. We believe all men are sinners.
Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23
Atonement
We believe for salvation from the penalty, power and ultimately the presence of sin, one must trust Jesus Christ; believing he died a substitutionary death on our behalf, shed his blood, was buried for three days and three nights and rose again on the third day. It is faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ that assures us eternal life and delivers us from deserved condemnation to hell for our sin. It is God’s love for us and God’s grace (sending his only begotten son to die on the cross) that makes this possible.
John 3:16, Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8,9, Romans 5:1-11
THE CHURCH:
We believe the church is a local, visible autonomous assembly. Jesus Christ instituted the church during his earthly ministry. The mission of the church is to:
1st-propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ
2nd-baptize believers, adding them unto the church
3rd-teach and instruct these disciples as Christ commanded
Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:37-41
We believe as the Bible teaches there are two ordinances given to the church:
1.) Baptism
Candidate- profession of faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ- believer in Christ
Mode- complete immersion, picturing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ
“In the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”
Authority - New Testament Baptist Church
Motive of the Candidate - out of obedience to the Word, to testify one’s belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, to identify with the one and only Savior, Jesus Christ, and to
become a member of the church.
Acts 2:41-42, Acts 8:12, 26-39, 1Corinthians12:12-13
2.) Lord’s Table
Why?- to remember the Lord’s death
Elements- unleavened bread, fruit of the vine (without yeast or fermentation)
Setting- solemn examination
Participants- only members of a given Baptist church are to partake
Matthew 26:26-30, 1Corinthians 11:23-34

2. Realize there is a penalty for your sin.
Not only does sin keep you out of heaven, but it also condemns you to hell. “For the wages of sin is death . . .” (Romans 6:23). Sin brings both physical and spiritual death. “and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” (Revelation 20:14).
3. Realize Jesus paid the penalty.
Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection provided a way for you to go to heaven. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Since Jesus was the only One who could pay for our sin, he is the only Way to heaven.
4. Repent of your sin and receive Jesus as your Saviour.
The final part of Jesus’ directions is to repent and receive Him. “Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20:21). In order to go to heaven you must accept Christ by calling on Him in prayer. He tells us in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Follow Christ’s directions: acknowledge to Him in prayer that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive you of your sins, save you and take you to heaven when you die. Settle your eternity now!
Liberty Baptist Church was started in 1974 by Pastor Rick DeMato as an independent, fundamental, old-fashioned KJV Bible believing church in Helena, Montana. Pastor Rick DeMato and his wife Kathy were sent from Berean Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. Pastor Rick DeMato retired on August 3rd, 2014 after teaching and preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for 40 years. |
